III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion.of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented the <br />operator during the field inspection. There was no activity on site. <br />Roads <br />The paved entrance road was in good condition. There was a small amount of debris on the road but <br />not enough to hamper access to the mine site. The cable was strung up across the top of the road. The <br />bridge at the bottom of the hill was intact. The entrance gate was closed and latched but not locked. <br />Facilities <br />The two doors on the office building were open but no problems were observed. <br />Hydroloev <br />The water level in the sediment pond was about 2 to 3 feet below the Ievet of the primary discharge <br />tube invert. The gated valve was closed. Pond inslopes and outslopes were well vegetated and stable. <br />Spillways were functional. The Edwards Mine portal spring water treatment pond continues to <br />discharge at about 20 to 30 gallons per minute. The discharge is still dark orange in color, which has <br />been shown to be in compliance with water quality standards. <br />The collection ditch leading to the sediment pond was well vegetated and had sufficient capacity. The <br />berm next to the river was functional. No problems were observed with the two alluvial wells. <br />Sys and Markers <br />The mine ID sign was up at the top of the hill and contained the correct information. Surface <br />disturbance markers were up along the perimeter of the mine site. , <br />c:/word/bear3/inspi 104 <br />
