(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1974-015
INSPECTION DATE 02/22/07 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OHS$RVATION9
This was an acreage release inspection of the Lyons Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Steve Brown of Lafarge West Inc. was
present during the inspection.
Lafarge submitted a release request on December 5, 2006 to release the West Plant area from
the permit area. The West Plant is 213 acres in size and is located on property owned by
CEMEX, Houlder County and Hraly Land Company. Lafarge has not mined this property and
request to have it deleted from the permit area.
A Bite inspection verified that mining has not taken place in the Weat Plant Area.
Photographs were taken and are attached to the inspection report. In the request letter,
Lafarge noted that the current permit area is 647 acres, and should be reduced to 434 acres
with the release of the West Plant area. Division's records show that the current permit
area for the site is 891 acres (in 2000, Amendment 06 added 643.7 acres to the existing
permit area of 237.3 acres). Therefore, the revised permit area for the Lyons Pit will be
678 acres.
Prior to approval of the release request, the operator will need to submit an updated map
depicting the new permit area. Once the map is submitted, the Division will approve the
acreage reduction request. Notice of approval of the acreage reduction request will be
submitted to the operator under separate cover.
2 & 8 Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Mr. Steve Hrown ^ BL
OPERATOR Lafarge West, Inc. ^ FS
STREET 10170 Church Ranch Way, Suite 200 ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Westminis ter, CO 80021 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DBMS
