(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-091 UG
INSPECTION DATE 6/8/07
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO.AJW
This partial inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Hard Rock/Metals 110d permits. The operator
was contacted about the scheduled inspection. Lance Barker of Au Mining was present during the inspection, as well as
Karmen King of Gault Group, Inc. Accompanying the DRMS inspectors during the inspection was Jocelyn Mullen of WOCD.
No features of the 3 Level were inspected at this time.
The site had been experiencing unusually heavy runoff flows in Deadman Gulch for several weeks, and afforded opportunities
to sample the surtace water. Besides observed flow in the gulch itself, there was flow issuing from the toe of the 6 Level dump
in several places. Water samples were taken from the gulch and from the toe of the dump. Readings of temperature and pH
taken of the dump seeps at the time of sampling indicate more than one source of the water, though it is not yet clear what
those sources are. The operator is undertaking a gulch water sampling program to characterize the water to confirm or
eliminate possible sources of the seeps and flows. Surface water was observed both above the and below the 6 Level of the
mine. Various ideas for isolating flows from possible mineralization or contamination through contact with dump material or ore
were discussed. Any potential practice to be implemented must be approved through this office under a technical revision to
the permit.
The following sample data were taken by DRMS during the inspection:
#1 (south toe of dump): pH 5.3 Temp 5.9 C.
#2 (SW toe of dump): pH 3.4 Temp 9.1 C.
#3 (upper gulch sump): pH 6.3 Temp 7.7 C.
#4 (outhouse gulch): pH 6.3 Temp 5.5 C.
The observed flows seep from the toe of the dump and continue to flow down the gulch for some distance. The source is not
clear, but some of it may be from the underground workings. Due to the water flowing from an unknown source nearthe toe of
the 6 Level dump, and that it flows offsite down the gulch, there is a problem noted on page one under the topic of "hydrologic
balance." Since the water flowing offsite is acidic, a problem is noted under the topic of "acid or toxic materials." The operator
must determine the source of this water, and if it is from the mine or impacted the dump, must formulate a reasonable plan for
isolating the water from sources of contamination or a treatment plan to improve the water before it leaves the site. The
research for this corrective action may take time, but a tentative proposal discussing the problem and how to possibly correct it
must be provided to this office by the date shown on the last page of this report.
No mining is occurring at this time. There was no stockpile of ore at the site, and no sacked ore down at Vickers Ranch.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no. 970-
247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZI P
Kve Abraham
LKA International.
