Wright, OSM
Weather: sunny and cool
Comments
This inspection was done to followup on enforcement actions issued by the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology during the March Federal inspection.
A mine identification sign with the required information and perimeter rnarkers were
evident on areas checked as were required by Notice of Violation C-93-013.
The discharge pipe for pond #003 has been repaired so that the structure can be
closed. No discharge was occurring during this inspection.
The topsoil stockpile located just below pond #003 had been fenced to prevent
grazing as required by Notice of b'iolation C-93-019.
During the inspection the upper drainage ditch for the mine access road and two
ditches behind the upper parking area were cleaned out. A ditch on tYie access
road between topsoil stockpiles #1 and #2 was not properly maintained and as a
result Notice of Violation C-93-123 wss issued by the Division of Minerals and
Geologywith an abasement deadline of October 1, 1993.
Pond #002 was checked and found to have a slight trickle discharging, however it
was apparent by the condition of the stream channel below the pond that this
structure had been discharging significantly more water earlier that day. According
to Mr Lopez water had been pumped from underground and pumping had been
stopped because of concern on quality of water discharging from the pond.
