n <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the King Coal Mine for the month of May, 1998. <br />RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be in compliance. Further details of the records <br />inspection can be found on page 5 of this report. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: The site has been without any appreciable moisture for a while and the <br />ponds are starting to dry up. Both ponds had water in them but were not discharging. The <br />ponds are stable and capable of functioning as designed. All culverts and ditches were inspected <br />and found to be clear and capable of functioning as designed. Design changes that have been <br />approved are soon to be implemented <br />GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is well maintained and erosionally stable. No problems <br />were noted during the inspection. <br />EXCESS SPOILS AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE: The waste pile is stable and all water is diverted <br />off the top and into ditches. Changes to the piles configuration have been approved by the <br />Division and construction is planned to begin in late May or early June. <br />
