(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2001-075
INSPECTION DATE 03/23/05
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
This was an inspection of the Arkins Park Quarries conducted by Erica Crosby of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Stan McMahon and David of Arkins Park Stone Corp. were
present during the inspection.
An 112c Mining and Reclamation Permit was issued to Arkins Park Stone on September 5,
1986, for a total permit area of 200.61 acres. A recent acreage release reduced the site
to 177 acres in size. The Division holds a financial warranty in the amount of
$50,000.00.
The site is located 2.25 miles south of Masonville in Larimer County, Colorado. Amine
identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site. The permit area was
delineated with boundary markers and existing fences.
The northern parcel was released from the permit area on January 31, 2003 in conjunction
with the approval of a conversion application (CN-O1) for an adjacent site operated by
Carter Lake Enterprises, Permit No. M-1985-099. However, the Carter Lakes site did not
completely incorporate the 23.7 acres as noted in the release request. Therefore, the
Division inspected the area to verify that no disturbance had taken place on the site.
Based on the inspection, no disturbance was noted in this area, and the bond release was
approved under separate cover.
The site was actively being mined during the inspection. The area is divided into the
north, middle and south areas. The south and middle regions are currently being mined.
Flagsone is cut and stored in various locations.
The north area is currently being used to screen out topsoil, rocks and boulders from old
waste piles around the mine site. Waste piles are hauled into the western side of the
permit area and loaded onto a screen that sorts the material into topsoil, 1~" to 3" rock,
3~" to 6" atone and large boulders. The material will be sold as product in the form of
decorative stone for landscaping and riprap. The topsoil will remain on site and used for
reclamation. The operator is currently using the topsoil to reclaim some of the slopes
near the mine entrance. The operator stated that approximately 5,800 tons of topsoil has
been screened and by the end of April, 2005 approximately 8,000 tons of topsoil will be
available for reclamation.
I & $ Contact Address
r CE
NAME Judy Sprague r BL
OPERATOR Arkins Park Stone Corporation r FS
STREET 5975 North County Road 27 r HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Loveland, Colorado 80538 r HMWNID (CH)
r SE
r WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DMG
