,(Page 2) • •
I
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2001-012
INSPECTION DATE 04/25/01 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operation inspection of the Shook Gravel Pit 1 conducted by Erica Crosby of
the Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology. Charles Kuntz and Robert Standley of Washington
County District 2 were present during the inspection. Weather conditions were clear and
warm. Ground conditions were dry.
Washington County filed a new 112 Mining and Reclamation Application with the Division on
March 1, 2001. The proposed operation is located 8 miles East and 9 miles North of Otis in
Washington County. The site covers 270 acres in and along Brunker Creek.
The public notice was posted on [he corner of County Road DD and Road 31. Existing fence
lines indicate boundary markers. The topography of the area is relatively flat with gentle
slopes leading into Brunker Creek. In some areas, slopes into the creek are abrupt.
Washington County anticipates mining in and around Brunker creek to a depth of approximately
6 feet. The creek was dry during the inspection.
Structures noted on site were consistent with structures located in the permit application.
Structures within 200 feet of the affected land include power poles and lines owned by Y-W
Electric, 2 wells (one possibly abandoned), fences and old corral structures. Comments
regarding mining within 200 feet of an existing structure is addressed in the Division's
adequacy review letter of April 26, 2001.
No concerns were noted as a result of this inspection.
I ~ E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Charles Kuntz ^ BL
OPERATOR Washington County Dist. 2 ^ FS
STREET 610 1" Street ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Otis.
