111. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection.
Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the
enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG.
No company representative was present during the inspection. The North Thompson Creek Mine
status is inactive. The inspection involved viewing three aerial photographs taken by Harry Ranney
on April 27, 1998. Weather and ground conditions on site appeared clear and dry.
Roads The road leading into the mine appeared to be in good repair, and no problems were noted.
Hydrologic Balance The long pond and treatment ponds contained water. The long pond water was
orange, and treatment ponds were clear in nature. Sediment Pond 9 also contained water, nearly up
to the discharge level. It could not be determined in the photos if the ponds were discharging. Pond
embankments were in good repair and no problems were noted.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled areas appeared stable and well vegetated. No major erosion
features were noted in the photos.
