i <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology. Bill Beaz represented Bowie Resources. Bowie Resources will be going to longwall <br />shortly. <br />Roads <br />The paved haul road was in good shape. The gob pile haul road was also in good shape. The gob <br />pi.,: haul road had been recently watered. However, the steeper portion of the road was over- <br />watered and was a little difficult to drive up. <br />Gob Pile <br />The operator has placed sediment pond cleanings on the gob pile. The cleanings have not been <br />spread yet. The to$ of the gob pile has positive drainage. The underdrain end was exposed. The <br />sediment control for the gob pile was functional. The outslope of the gob pile had moderate <br />vegetation on the west side but poor vegetation on the east side. <br />Hydrology <br />The operator is cleaning out sediment pond C. There was almost no water in the pond. Pond D <br />had no water in it. Spillways were functional. The pond C embankment appeazed to be stable. <br />J <br />c:\ms97\bowie2\insp 1099 <br />
