<br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the King Coal Mine for the month of June, 2001. The site is operating <br />at its normal rate and is stock piling lump coal for sale this fall. <br />RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be in compliance. Further details of the records <br />inspection can be found on page 5 of this report. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: Both ponds were not discharging. The East pond is dry. The West pond had <br />about 2 feet of water in it has the inlet appears to be down cutting some. This condition needs to be <br />monitored and if the problem worsens, then some riprap may be in order. All culverts and ditches were <br />inspected and found to be clear and able to properly function. <br />GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is well maintained and has had a recent general cleanup. <br />EXCESS SPOILS AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE: The waste pile is stable and all water is diverted off <br />the top. The toe of the pile that was cut has been backfilled. Vegetation on the waste pile is starting to <br />establish itself and should flourish. <br />
