III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the New Horizon Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the <br />DRMS. Aerial photographs were taken on October 23, 2007 at approximately 10:45 A.M. <br />Weather conditions were cleaz and sunny at the time of the flight. <br />Mike Boulay of the DRMS reviewed the aerial photographs. Ten photographs were taken during <br />the flyover. The majority of the mine site was visible in the photographs. Mining and <br />reclamation activities were underway at the time of the flight and equipment was active in the pit <br />azea. <br />Roads <br />Mine site roads were dry and appeared well maintained and in good condition. <br />Hvdroloeic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds 007, 008, 009, and 012 were visible in the photographs. Ponds 009 and <br />012 were completely dry. Ponds 007 and 008 were both retaining significant amounts of water. <br />From the photographs, pond inlets and embankments appeared stable and no problems were <br />noted at any of these sediment pond locations. <br />General Mine Compliance <br />Most areas of the mine site were viewed. The active pit, facilities, and perimeter areas of the site <br />appeared to be maintained. No problems were noted in any of the aerial photographs. <br />
