<br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This partial inspection of the Carbon Junction Coal Mine was conducted by DMG staff <br />from the Durango Office, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301, phone <br />(970) 247-5469. Mine representative was not located. Evidence of progress towards <br />reclamation of the site was not observed. <br />Sediment Pond 1, located at the far south end of the permit area, was dry. Primary <br />spillway was clear and stable, no discharge noted. Secondary spillway was well <br />vegetated and stable, no evidence of discharge. Pond embankment, inslopes and inlets <br />appeared well vegetated and stable. <br />Sediment Pond 2, located along the west side of the permit area, was dry. Primary <br />spillway was clear and functional, no discharge noted. Secondary spillway appeared <br />stable, no evidence of discharge. Pond embankment was well vegetated and stable. <br />Vegetative cover for the rock fill area, recently topsoiled, consisted primarily of weeds. <br />
