•
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1992-051
INSPECTION DATE: April 18, 2001 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: AIW
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG and Del Rodarmel of Florence 5 & G. The
site is located just south of the town of Florence, Colorado. The pit is situated on an old remnant gravel terrace ridge that is
typical to this area.
This site consists of two side-by-side 110 permits that were merged into one when one operator sold their property to the other
permittee. During this conversion process, the operator also increased the overall area of the permit up to a grand total of
77.44 acres which is roughly divided into 2 parcels of approximately 35 acres each. The site is bonded for a maximum of 35
disturbed acres at any given time and the total disturbance will be approximately 50 acres. The original south 110 permit arez
has pretty much been mined out at this point and the primary production area is the "north" pit.
There are a couple of inconsistencies in the permit application that the operator may want to review. Under the mining plan it
states that there will be a 25 foot setback from all permit boundaries, however, the operator seemed to be under the
impression that he could not mine within 500 feet of the north boundary. There is a 500 foot setback, but it is only for the
power lines that cross the southwest corner of the permit area, which is well away from any proposed mining activity.
According to the permit application, the north property can be mined to within 25 feet of the north boundary and will be
sloped at 3H:1 V from there back down to the pit floor. The west boundary will also be back-sloped in the same manner.
The post-mining land use is for industrial and as a result, very little topsoil is being salvaged for use during reclamation.
However, the sloped areas along the north and west sides that will remain aher mining is completed will need to be topsoiled
and vegetated. Therefore, enough topsoil to complete this activity needs to be stockpiled by the operator.
The site was properly identified and the permit boundaries were clearly marked. No problems were observed and this
concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Del Rodarmel
OPERATOK: Florence Sand and Gravel
STREET: 799 5'h Street
CITY/STATE2IP: Penrose.
