The Willow Bend Pit ie permitted for 6 acres of disturbance with a
$2,500. The post-mining land use ie agriculture. Mining ie almost compl ted at the site and
there is only minor grading and revegetation to be performed on the up r west bank of the
river. The river channel, where mined, has filled in naturally and is characteristic of a
stable channel. The operator has been able to achieve this result b cause of a properly
executed mining plan where aggregate is excavated only to the elevation of the water surface
in the low flow channel. Another observation made was that the bed mat rial in the vicinity
of the Willow Bend Pit was predominantly sand. The stream exhibi e a high degree of
sinuosity in this area and appears to have a high capacity of deposit sand and other fine
sediment. The woody vegetation in the surrounding area appeared to be undant and healthy.
3.
