Re=CcIV~D

SEP 151997
INSPECTION REPORT Division of Minerals 8 Geo
Case File #: COC22777 Case Type: Coal
Operator: Kerr Coal
Location: Marr Mine, Pit #1
Status: Preapplication [ ] Operation [ ]
Preconstruction [ ] Reclamation [ x ]
Construction [ ] Other
Inspectorls): Jim Perry Date: 7-9-97
SUMMARY
I met with Jim Mossman and George Patterson before hiking portions of
Pit#1. - --' '-- -- ~- ~ -- -- - -- - - - -- -- _.
Pond 'G':
I reminded Jim & George that Pond"G" north of the County road will
eventually have to come out.
Noxious Weeds:
There is some Canada thistle in the northernmost end of Pit #1 and along
the bottom of the pit. Jim said he was looking into equipment and
chemicals to treat the weeds.
Contour Furrows:
The contour furrows look like they worked quite successfully. Some have
filled with sediment and overtopped, but I saw very little erosion below
the furrows. The furrows are smaller than I expected and it is now my
belief that the furrows may eventually fill in and erode away sufficiently
to blend into the landscape.
vegetation:
The 1st year cereal crop has reinvaded and once again dominates the site.
Z saw very little perennial vegetation from last fall's seeding.
There was an area in the north end, about 1 acre in size, which was devoid
of cereal grains. The only perennial plant in the drill rows was an over
abundant crop of Lewis flax. It does not appear as though the seed was
mixed very well in the drill box.

Photos Attached? Y N Signature: r i
)9Y
i - ~'
