Colowyo C-1981-019 <br />26 April 2006 <br />Pg 2/5 ~~ <br />Hydrologic Balance: -The Section 16 Pond contained water approximately six feet <br />below the top of the discharge pipe and was not discharging. The pond <br />embankment was well vegetated and stable and no erosional problems were <br />noted. The emergency spillway is a riprapped channel. The spillway was stable and <br />in good condition. <br />-The wash bay pond contained water approximately six feet below the top of the <br />embankment-and was not discharging. This is a total containment pond and <br />discharge triggers BTEX testing (in addition to regular NPDES testing). The water from <br />this pond is used for watering the roads. The pond embankment was well vegetated <br />and appeared stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were <br />noted on the pond embankment at the time of the inspection. <br />-The work area pond (NPDES 002A) contained water approximately 2 feet below the <br />discharge pipe (and six inches below the weep-hole) and was not discharging. <br />Water was flowing into the pond at a rate of approximately five gallons/minute. The <br />pond embankment was well vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. No <br />erosional problems were noted on the embankment at the time of the inspection. <br />The emergency spillway is a riprapped channel. The spillway was stable and in good <br />condition. <br />-Sump 1 was dry at the time of the inspection. The sump appeared to be stable at <br />the time of the inspection. <br />-Sump 2 contained water approximately two feet below the top at the time of the <br />inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />-Sump 3 contained water approximately two feet below the top at the time of the <br />inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />-Sump 4 contained water approximately three feet below the top at the time of the <br />inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />- Sump 5 contained water approximately three feet below the top at the time of the <br />inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />-The West Pit Pond (NPDES 008A) contained water approximately 8 feet below the <br />discharge pipe (the water level was below that of the discharge pipe structure) and <br />was not discharging. The pond embankment was well vegetated and stable at the <br />time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at <br />the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped channel. The <br />spillway was stable and in good condition. <br />-The East Taylor Pond (NPDES O1 OA) contained a small pool of water at the bottom of <br />the pond and was not discharging. The West Pit contains all of the water from this <br />pond's watershed. The pond embankment was well vegetated and stable at the <br />time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at <br />the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped channel. The <br />spillway was stable and in good condition. <br />-The Gossard Pond (NPDES 003A) contained water approximately three feet below <br />the riser pipe and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />embankment was well vegetated and stable and there were no erosional problems <br />noted at the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a 12" culvert. <br />
