III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Canadian Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No
company representative was present during the inspection. The Canadian Mine is in reclamation
only status. Weather conditions~on site were clear and warm. Ground conditions were dry.
Signs & Markers The operator needs to post or modify the current sign to include the name,
address, and telephone number of the division office where the mining and reclamation permit is
filed (Rule 4.30.213).
Roads The light use road was generally in good repair. Some road erosion was noted in the
southeast corner.
Hydrologic Balance Both sediment ponds contained water, but no discharge was noted.
Spillways were in good repair. Pond embankments are well vegetated and appear stable.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled and graded slopes are well vegetated, and no major erosion
problems were noted.
Revegetation Vegetation on the mine site is well established. The dominant grasses on site are
western wheatgrass and crested wheatgrass. Sage brush was also noted throughout the mine
site.
