•r <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This partial inspection of the Hamilton Coal Mine was conducted by Wally Erickson from <br />the DMG Durango office, 484 Turner Drive, Building F, Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301, <br />phone (970) 247-5193. No activity was observed, no mine personnel encountered. <br />Signs & Markers -Mine identification sign and safety signs were posted at mine <br />entrance. Perimeter markers were observed. Topsoil signs posted at stockpile #2. <br />Roads -Access to mine site is provided by Montrose County Road HH31 from Colorado <br />Highway 141. Mine roads were well maintained. Road side drainage ditches were well <br />maintained. Road drainage for mine entrance road is treated for sediment by silt fence, <br />silt fences were generally intact and appeared to be functioning appropriately. Road <br />culverts were clear of sediment and debris. <br />Hydrologic Balance -Sediment pond A, located at far north end, was dry. Vegetative <br />cover for pond embankment was sparse, however, embankment appeared stable, <br />evidence of minor erosion observed. <br />Sediment pond B, located at NE corner of permit area, was dry. Massive pond <br />embankment was vegetated and appeared stable. <br />Revegetated areas were fenced from livestock and appeared stable, no evidence of <br />excessive erosion observed. <br />
