III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion.of observations.made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by toe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented the <br />operator during the inspection. About 8 inches of snow covered the site. There was no activity on site. <br />Roads <br />The paved entrance road was snow covered. The cable was strung out across the road at the top of the <br />hill. The bridge was snow covered as well. The gate at the mine site entrance was closed and latched, <br />but not locked. <br />Hvdroloav <br />The snow/water level in the sediment pond was about 1 foot below the primary tube invert. The pond <br />inslopes and embankment were snow covered. The Edwards Mine portal spring water treatment pond <br />was covered in snow. The snow/water level in the pond was about 8 inches below the horizontal pipe. <br />The pond was discharging at about 20 gpm. The pond discharge was orange in color but the discharge <br />has been found to be in compliance with water quality standards. <br />The sediment pond collection ditch was snow covered but had sufficient capacity. There were no <br />problems noted with alluvial wells AW-1 and AW-3. The berm next to the river was functional. The <br />east spring was flowing but there was no sign of the west spring. <br />Facilities <br />The mine office building was open but no problems were noted. <br />Reclaimed Stones <br />There was no smoke or steam coming from the backfilled west portal area, <br />Sims and Markers <br />The mine ID sign was up at the entrance, at the top of the hill and it contained the correct information. <br />c:/word/bear3/insp 1204 <br />
