The sediment level in the single sediment pond at the site was checked using a clinometer.
Sediment levels relative to the top of the riser pipe were estimated on the south and east side of
the pond. Significant sediment is present in this area of the pond. Field measurements indicate
that sediment levels are equal to or higher in elevation than the top of the riser. The Division
recommends the operator survey the current condition of the pond while the pond is dry and clean
the pond of sediment, if necessary, to meet the design requirements. The Division will attempt to
survey the pond during the next 4-6 weeks to verify the required sediment capacity is presently
available in the pond.
Fish and Wildlife
Evidence suggests a bear is frequenting the site and surrounding area. Elk graze the recaimed
area during the night according to Mr. luppa.
Revegetation
The growing season has end at this site. Revegetation varies on the reclaimed area from fair to
good on north facing slopes to extremely poor on the south-facing refuse slope.
Overall, the site appeared in fair condition.
