The bond recalculation was mailed
via certified mail to the operator, and was received on 6/27/00.
The permit ID sign was posted near the permit entrance gate. The permit boundary consists of existing fencelines on the
west, north and east; it consists of the north edge of the abandoned railroad grade for the south boundary. There was
no offsite disturbance observed.
Though the site has been operated in the past, there was no activity at the time of the inspection. Existing activity has
not been reclaimed. Features noted included the gravel pad at the entrance, processed gravel stockpiles on the pad,
roadways in the pasture areas outside of the pad area, pond resulting from past extraction, and stockpiled topsoil. These
features and all other unreclaimed disturbance make up the operator's reclamation liability, which must be bonded. It is
these items included in the recent bond recalculation.
At present the unreclaimed disturbance does not appear to be unstable, except for the potential for weeds to be introduced
and/or an infestation to increase. There were no noxious weeds observed. The gravel pad area and the topsoil along the
pond banks exhibited annual weeds. Weeds left untreated or site left unreclaimed tend to allow weed problems to grow
and increase reclamation costs later. If noxious weeds are noted they should be promptly controlled. Topsoil resources
should be protected so that they are usable for reclamation.
The site has not been significantly operated in a Iona period of time, other than the occasional removal of stockpiled
material and no reclamation has occurred The operator should refer to Construction Materials Rule 1 13 regarding the
determination whether this site should be placed into "temoorarv cessation" ITCI status. If no mining, processing or
reclamation is reported for the next report vear, this office will contact the operator about filing for TC status.. At this time
there is no problem noted in this report
There were no other items observed.
