III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection The Comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham and Sandy Brown of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Ground conditions on this day were very dry.
The weather was very hot. with record temperatures for this day set in many places in
Colorado Strong wind gusts were also common during the inspection This site is bond
revoked.
Roads
The road through the west pit area remains effectively unchanged from the previous
inspection It was easily passable, although somewhat rough at the crossings where
drainage from the reclaimed area flows over the road surface
Hydrologic Balance
The site has not experienced any
significant runoff since the last
inspection. Rills and gullies
remain unchanged.
Fish and Wildlife
Ground nesting birds are using the
reclaimed area, as evidenced by
two nests found under the shaded
side of broom snakeweed plants
(one shown at right). Evidence of
deer and elk usage was also
observed,
Revegetation
Cattle were not observed on the
sde during the inspection. No
evidence of cattle grazing this
season was noted. Revegetated
areas are qualitatively rated as fair
especially given the extremely dry
conddions. This sde has
apparently experienced enough
precipitation from many species to
show a modest amount of growth
and for others to set seed heads
and begin to pollinate.
