III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology. The Rimrock Mine consists of approximately seven acres of reclamation. The
previous report identified the site as approaching the tenth growing season following reseeding.
However, the 2004 growing season is actually the eleventh (11) growing season after
reseeding. The site was snow-covered on this day due to a storm two days prior to the
inspection.
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond was found dry and nothing abnormal was noted. The embankment
appeared in good condition. With continued winter conditions likely, significant runoff will not
occur from the limit snow cover on the site at this time.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the winter season. Cattle were noted in the
surrounding pasture but no evidence of use of the reclamation for grazing since the brief fall
grazing was noted.
