III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the rnspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology on December 17, 2003. Kent Gorham of the CDMG reviewed 17 digital oblique
aerial photographs in the office on January 12. 2004. This former underground mine is
reclaimed. Remaining buildings and structures are approved to remain as permanent
structures. On this day snow covered less-exposed portions of the reclaimed area.
Hydrologic Balance
Processing Waste
The reclaimed processing waste pile was visible from a number of different angles in many
of the photos taken. Exposed, south-facing slopes were free of snow cover The recently
established ditch system could be seen and appeared in good condition with no breaches or
damage visible.
The sediment pond held water in the southern end that was cleaned of sediment early this
year. The water in the pond appeared frozen. The pond embankment and the emergency
spillway were clearly visible and appeared normal and in good condition.
