Measurements of the
slopes were taken at 10 different places around the east pit, and three places around the
middle pit, using an Abney level to find the slope gradient. With the exception of one area
along the north-west corner of the east lake, all measurements proved the slopes to be 3H:1V
or less steep. The slopes in the corner mentioned are near the stockpiles, and have not yet
been completely graded; currently, that area has slopes of 2.75H:1V. A note was made and the
slope measurement was brought to the Operator's attention in this area. Topsoiling and
vegetation have not yet been completed around the east lake, although approximately a third
of the southern shore appears to be reclaimed, with trees flourishing on the slopes. Riprap
is being stored along the south slopes prior to installation, and while some erosion had
occurred on northern slopes, no serious problems have yet developed.
At this time, an acreage release request is required by the Division from the Operator, in
order to reconcile the sale of property to Weld County, and the subsequent amendment of their
permit to include the newly purchased area. An accurate map showing the exact acreage of the
area still contained within permit M-82-015, and a letter stating that Siegrist Co. wishes
to have the acreage previously sold to Weld County released from their permit area, must be
submitted within 30 days to correct DMG's records.
No other problems were noted at this time.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Michael Siegrist
OPERATOR Siegrist Construction Co
STREET 875 W. 64th Ave.
CITY/STATE/ZIP Denver.
