Below are comments on the inspection. The commenla include discussion of observations made during the
irrspedion. Commerrls ado describe any errrorcement actions taken during the irtspectlon and the facts or
evidence supporting the enforcement actlon.
On June 15, 1998, William J. Carter and Dan Hernandez from the Divisia~n of Minerals and Geology
performed a partial inspecaa~n of the Fastside Mine. During the inspection the weather was clear and
mild
81e~a:
The rnsd, off the highway, into the mine site, was in stable condition.
• No water was found in any of the ditches or the sediment pond at the time of the inspection
• Some maintenance may be required for the clean water diversion ditch due to some unraveling
along the outer slope.
• The rock downdrain south of the sediment pond needs some repair.
• Vegetation throughout the mine site appears to be well established, although a bit sparse at this
time. The sparseness should remedy itself over time.
• It appears that the operator is doing a very good job of weed control. No noxious weeds were
identiSed oa the site.
Slides and Dsmaae•
No erosion damage was noted other than the afore mentia~ned rock dowadrain and the diversion ditch.
