(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-19R~-nsR
INSPECTION DATE: na/~/na INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ~AS-
1. A site inspection of the Poorman Mine was made as part of the Division's on-going 4-year inspection program. Present
was Mr. Alvin Mosch. The Poorman Mine is located approximately 4.5 miles southwest of the town of Idaho Springs, near
the head of Trail Creek. The State of Colorado is the surface owner of the facility.
2 . There have been no changes at the Poorman Mine since the last Division inspection on April 18, 2000. The site is
inactive, and mining activities as specified in the mining plan have never begun since the mining and reclamation permit
was issued. Mr. Mosch indicated that production at the mine may resume upon a satisfactory increase in the price of
silver. The Division encourages Mr. Mosch to keep the Division apprised of when mining activities at the Poorman Mine
begin.
3. The Poorman Mine is permitted for a total of less than 1 acre of surface disturbance. The Poorman Mine is a pre-
existing mine that produced very high grade silver ore from 1898 to 1914. The mine has been inactive since that time.
The surface facilities include a small mine dump. The mining plan specifies expansion of the existing mine workings and
expansion of the existing mine dump with new mine waste rock. It is estimated that expansion of the existing mine dump
will encompass less than 1 acre. The post-mining land use is mining and forestry. The operator has posted a financial
warranty of $100. Based upon the observations noted, this inspector finds the existing financial warranty to be
satisfactory.
4. Signs and markers were posted, as required by Rule 3.1.12, although there was some evidence of vandalism.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Alvin Mosch
OPERATOR: Rocky West Mining Corporation
STREET: PO Box 3236
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Idaho ri CO R0452
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (via E-Mail)
