Expected pit
life will be approximately 3 years.
All topsoil should be stripped off and stockpiled in a non-
erosive configuration prior to gravel extraction.
After gravel extraction is complete, headwalls and steep slopes
should be flattened to a 3:1 or flatter slope. Some steep slope may
be unavoidable, but should be kept to a minimum.
Before topsoiling, the substratum should be scarified with a
ripper. This is necessary to provide a good bond between the top-
soil and the subsoil material. Retopsoil to a depth of at least
6-8" deep.
Fertilizer will be applied at a rate of not less than 40 lbs/ac.
nitrogen and 40 lbs.jac. phosphorous.
The seedbed should be settled and firm yet friable enough to
plant the seed at the proper depth, ;-'~" deep. Seed should be plant-
ed with a grass drill. Steep slopes may be broadcast seeded and the
seed hand raked in to the proper depth.
Steep areas (greater than 3:1 slopes) will be mulched after
seeding with 2 tons r~er acre of native hay or strata.
GR4ZING ON THF. AREA WILL BE DEFERRED FOR AT LEAST ONE GROS4ING
SEASON FOLLOWING SEEDING!
