The inspection was done as a matter of convenience as the
inspector was visiting the adjacent property on Division business. At the time of the inspection, the inspector met
the lessee or subcontractor to Mr. Brandstadt.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located just off G Road, east of Delta at the entrance to the access road. Permit boundaries are mazked
byroads and fences and are easily distinguishable.
No significant infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection.
At the time of the inspection several pieces of equipment were on site. Topsoil that was stockpiled over areas of
future mining are now being relocated to the north out of production way.
A small highwall exists along the southern edge of the disturbance area. Work appears to be headed I a westerly
direction as indicated in the annual report.
The subcontractors noted a possible interest in taking out a small ridge of material that will be left once mining is
completed along the southern edge. The idea is to better facilitate drainage for an irrigated field. The inspector has
no problem with the idea, but some issues need t be addressed prior to any decision on the matter. The permit maps
show that the boundaries along the area of interest are short of the fence line. It would be in the operator's best
interest to survey in the line to ensure that there is no disturbance offthe approved permit. Once that boundary has
been established it may be possible to do a Technical Revision to the Reclamation Plan to address grading for an
irrigated field and the ridge of material "may" be able to be removed as part of an agricultural improvement which is
exempt from the requirements of a permit. It is important to have the Division visit the site prior to any disturbance
to this area so that all the facts can be gathered and a written approval gained.
No issues or problems are noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`d Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Harold Brandstadt.
OPERATOR:_
STREET: 20426 G Road
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Delta, CO 81416
cc:
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
