Rollings, 370, OSM
Shaun Smith, DMG
Jack Epple, Operations Manager, CEC
Permit C-81-028 was issued 11/3/91 and expires 11/3/96. One of the permit
stipulations is that fly ash from the Coors Brewing operations in Golden, CO, be
buried five feet above the water table and eight feet below the reclaimed
surface. The operation ceased production in 1986. The permit contains a
revision allowing a contemporaneous reclamation variance based on the fly ash
disposal operations.
CEC has a bond for the required amount of 54,402,022 with CNA Insurance
Companies, #576-16-52. There have not been any phase releases for the areas
reclaimed.
Liability insurance is with American Motorist Co., for the period 10/20/94
through 10/20/95.
All other permits, air emissions, county special use, etc., are in effect. The
CDH permit, CO-0037052, was deactivated 8/20/90 because there had never
been a discharge from the ponds. MSHA has released the site from its
jurisdiction on the basis that coal is no longer mined and the site is essentially a
fly ash disposal operation.
All road classifications have been downgraded from haul roads to access roads.
There are two ponds on the site; the sewage disposal pond and sediment pond
two. Both have as-built certifications dated 10/14/93 and both have had the
pond inspections conducted as required with the most recent ones dated
9/29/94.
The annual hydrologic and revegetation reports have been submitted on time.
The latest water monitoring reports were dated 10/31/94.
1498.31 acres are permitted, 424 acres are disturbed, 133 acres are seeded.
