a (Page 21
MINE ID q OR PROSPECTING ID 1J
INSPECTION DATE 6125/98
OBSERVATIONS
n
~J
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS W~F ~
This inspection occurred as part of DMG's routine monitoring inspection plan for permitted
operations. DMG had attempted to inspection the Black Snag operation in April but could not
cross Disappointment Creek due to high water. DMG contacted Dolores County Road Department
prior to the inspection, however, Tim Huskey could not participate in the inspection. The Black
Snag Pit is located on BLM land, approximately 19 miles NE of Dove Creek. The 110 permit is
approved for 9.9 acres affected area. No mining activities were observed, no personnel contacted
during the time of this inspection.
Flow of Disappointment Creek was low enough to allow crossing. Mine entrance road was well
maintained. Mining operations had advanced to the south end of the permit area. Vegetation and
topsoil had been stripped and stockpiled along the west, east and south ends of the active pit area.
Stockpiles of overburden and processed material were located within the pit area. Reclamation
backfilling appeared to have commenced along the north and NW sides of the pit area. Mining
operations appeared to have been contained within the 9.9 acres approved area.
Signs & Markers -Mine identification sign, required by Rule 3.1.12(1), was posted at the mine
entrance. Affected area perimeter markers, required by Rule 3.1.1212), were observed.
Cultural Site -Boundary fence for the cultural site, located along the west side of the permit area,
was evident. Mining activities had advanced to the fence which delineates the east side of the
cultural area. Portions of the fence have been impacted by mining activities, however, mining
operations had not occurred within the delineated area.
Exploration -One exploration trench was located beyond the west side of the fenced cultural site
and permit boundary. Exploration trench was approximately 10'L x 4'D x 4'W. Exploration
activities did not appear to be in violation of the 1600 square foot exemption provided by Rule
1.1(131. However, DMG encourages the operator to promptly backfill and reclaim exploration
trenches to minimize human safety concerris and environmental impact of such activities.
1 & E Contact Address
NAME Tim Huskev
OPERATOR Dolores Countv Road Deot.
STREET P.O.
