This inspection was conducted as a follow-up to a previous inspection by the Division on
March 7, 1997 where concerns were noted regarding slope stability in Area SF.
2. The operator has already acted to stabilize a portion of the gully erosion located near
the drainage containment system. An unstable slope immediately upgradient of the drainage
catchment basin has been regraded and covered with suitable riprap. However, there is still
evidence of gully erosion in or near the stormwater drainage system and soil slumping along
the reclaimed slope immediately south of the shop building. The operator has been requested
in the previous inspection report for March 7, 1997 to submit a plan for stabilization of
these areas by April 18, 1997. The stabilization plan is to be submitted in the form of a
technical revision to the permit.
3. The operator is currently evaluating the feasibility of amending the current mining and
reclamation plan.
cc: Mark A. Heffner
37 East Colorado Ave.
Denver.
