As we discussed by telephone on 4-12-05, Lafage is
submitting this letter in response to the items noted as potential problems that required corrective
action.
~~ _ 1_ .1'lte.ident~egtion sign at the mine entrance doPS no! show thgl a permit wqs issued.by.the.
Colorado Wined Land Reclamation IIoard and it does not show Ihe'permil number. ~~~
A sign that shows MLRB Permit Ito. M-1997-087 has been posted at the pit.
2. There is not enough salvaged topsoil to complete reclamation on a sign cant portion bf
the affected area.
As observed during rho inspection, the majority of the area disturbed by mining has had
the topsoil replaced. Lafarge estimates that approximately 6 acres of disturbed area
remain that have not been covered with topsoil. The amount of topsoil required to cover
this azea at a thickness of 4" is 3226 yards of soil. There are two remaining stockpiles of
salvaged topsoil remaining on the property. The amount of material remaining in these
stockpiles is estimated at 3800 cubic yards. Lafarge believes that adequate topsoil has
bean salvaged to provide an adequate plant growth medium for the remaining disturbed
areas. Attached are photos of the two remaining stockpiles of topsoil.
We trust these responses adequately address the concerns noted in the inspection report. If you
have any questions regarding the Harahan Pit, or ifyou would like to observe the topsoil
stockpiles, please do not hesitate to contact me at 303-657-4118 at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
Sincere! ,
/~r
Phillipe/
Land and Lease Specialist
Cc: Rusty Cochran - Lafarse
Western U.S. Region .
70770 Church Ranch Way, Suite 200, Wesuninster, Co 80021
Office: (303) 65>-a000
WeD: wvnrv.lafargenorthamerica.wm
~:•.':
..,i~:.
^,
:' ~ ;;
• ,,,;~
• ..~A
,, ,,:
°~
•~.:
,,,
.;
~.;
. ,t„
., ,
A.
