III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE ~L~ n~~ ~~p~ ~0~
~ ~/ / • /! 0
~~ /t `f /-~~- n3
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observation>~
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Hayden Gulch Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The mine has gone through a Phase I and Phase II Bond Release on all but
approximately nine acres. The weather was cold and snowy and there was several
feet of snow on the ground (the area had received about 60" of snow in the last two
weeks prior to the inspection.
All of the necessary records were available at the Montgomery Watson Harza offices
in Steamboat Springs. See the records checklist at the end of this inspection report
for more detailed information.
The entire mine site was covered with snow and inaccessible. Shrub enclosures HG-
08 and 003 were, however, both visible from the road. Both areas appeared to be
stable and there were no signs of the backfill sliding or cracking. The vegetation was
covered with snow. Due to the large amount of snow, it was not clear if either of the
ponds (HG-08 and 003) contained water.
John Weinman of MWH indicated that the drilling permitted with Notice of Intent X-
2002-224-00 was completed. Again, due to the large amount of snow, the drill pads
were inaccessible.
