® (Page 21 •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-90-114
INSPECTION DINE 2/25/00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This partial inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of 112 Construction Materials permits. Due
to the nature of this brief follow up inspection the operator was not contacted prior to the inspection.
The site is identified by the permit ID sign posted at the entrance gate. There had been a question about the location and
marking of the southern boundary, and the SE and SW corners. Permit area maps had been submitted by the operator
partly in response; to this question, which provided measurements for the boundaries. This inspection served to verity the
locations on the ground of that southern boundary. The southern boundary las well as the rest of the permit boundary)
is now recognized to be marked by an existing fenceline.
An additional question which arose after review of the recently submitted maps was the topsail stockpile locations. In
particular, the stockpile along the western edge of the "main" pit (immediately north of the entrance roadl. This stockpile
was depicted as actually extending through the natural drainage, though it was observed during this inspection to be
incorrectly depicted. Topsoil placed there would be subject to degradation, but topsoil is not in the drainage and there is
no evidence of any degradation. (Note: there is apre-existing topsoil problem related to weediness in other piles, which
the operator is required to correct. This has not yet been corrected, but has not been noted herein as a problem.) The
operator should monitor all topsoil piles, new and old, for weeds and timely treat them as needed.
The site has been recently mined in the southern portion, south of the entrance road. This newest pit is the initial
disturbance in that area. The topsoil has been stripped and windrowed at the margin, and pitrun dozed up into stockpiles
in the pit. There vvere a couple pieces of earthmoving equipment onsite, but no activity or personnel during the inspection.
The operator is reminded that the annual report, annually due on 10126, must include all changes to the site, such as new
mining areas and reclamation.
There were no additional items noted, and no new problems. For all questions or responses to this report, please contact
this inspector at the following address or phone: 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango CO 81301; tel 970/247-5193
or fax 970/247-5104.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
John Unaefua
Saauache County
P.0.
