III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Jason Musick of Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining, and Safety (Division). Dan Hernandez of the Division accompanied the inspection. The
weather was clear and sunny. The ground was damp due to recent snowfall, although the ground was
cleaz of snowfall at the time of the inspection. Inspection frequency for this revoked permit site is
three partial inspections and one complete inspection per yeaz.
Signs and Markers
The DRMS sign was in place next to Fourmile Road and found to contain all information to be in
compliance.
Support Facilities
No problems were found in the azeas of the north access road and the south access road.
Hydrolo¢ic Balance
The lower reclaimed sediment pond had good vegetation cover and the embankments appeared stable.
There were no signs of erosion in or azound the ditches or sediment pond. The upper sediment pond
appeared in good condition.
Backtill and Grading
Reclaimed slopes and the former portal/surface facilities area on the north side of the road appeared in
good condition. There were no signs of slope instability or excessive erosion. The slopes south of the
road appeared stable with no signs of excessive erosion.
The regrading and backfill of the air portal south of the road has collapsed. This azea will need to be
backfilled, graded and revegetated in order to cover the air portal It appeared that the seal to the portal
was still stable.
Reveeetation
The site has good vegetative cover with minimal evidence of weeds.
3
