III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection, conducted by Joe Dudash of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. The operator was
represented, at various times, by Forrest Luke, Billy Nicholson,
and Larry Henderson. In addition to the inspection, Trapper
sponsored a mine tour for five high school students, as part of the
State of Colorado's Youth in Natural Resources program.
Coordination of the tour was through the Division of Minerals and
Geology.
ROADS
All of the roads at the mine site were in good shape and all were
passable. The operator had recently applied magnesium chloride to
the haul roads.
FACILITIES
There were no problems noted at the office area, the industrial
storage area, the waste oil site, the two anfo sites and the
explosives storage site.
8IGN8 AND MARRERB
Mine ID signs were up at the proper locations and contained the
correct information. Blasting notice signs were also up at these
locations. The permit boundary markers had been recently painted,
and were up around the mine site perimeter. Topsoil stockpile
markers were also present.
TOPSOIL
All of the topsoil piles were properly marked and protected from
erosion. The one topsoil pile just to the east of the Deer pond
needs to have some maintenance work done on the containment ditch
along the pile's southern end. Field Minor Revision No. 148 was
issued so that the operator could move topsoil stockpile A 93-6 to
a new location approximately 3000 feet to the north. The former
location was in the way of road building work.
DITCREB AND CIILVERTB
There was some brush that should be removed in the West Buzzard
