<br />INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2 <br />FILE N0. 77-94 <br />DATE: August 9, 1985 <br />OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE: <br />1. No activity at site at time of inspection. Cattle were grazing the <br />area. <br />2. Equipment on site includes dozer, front-end loader and screening plant. <br />3. Little change at site since Brad Jones' inspection in November, 1984. <br />4. Highwall of 10'-20' on south and west sides. <br />5. Due to pre-law mining activities at this site, it is very hard to <br />specify current versus old activities. <br />6. Appears topsoil stockpiles located on south and west sides in <br />non-vegetated status. <br />7. Slides 13-17 north side looking south rotating west to east <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />1. Operator should seed the topsoil piles with fast-growing species (e.g., <br />slender wheatgrass, smooth brome) to maintain soil quality and quantity <br />to assist in reclamation activities. <br />2. Any area not to be used for mining purposes should be retopsoiled and <br />reseeded to maintain lower financial warranty amount. <br />3. To reduce future confusion over pre-law and post-law disturbances and <br />to return the land to a productive status, the operator should consider <br />spreading out and knocking down all of the various piles of material <br />scattered around this area. <br />2596E <br />e _ ~ .~ <br />
