ORIGINAL-PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-1989-nne
INSPECTION DATE: 6/~?/ns INSPECTORCS tNITIALS: ~K-
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of sites
to be inspected under the 4-year program. The site is a small 112 in stream
mining operation permitted as a 112 in error in a small branch of the
Republican River. The total affected acreage was approximately 3 acres and
Mr.Isenbert stated that when the site was last inspected he communicated
Kit Carson's desire to correct the error and was notified to ask for a
release and apply for a 110 permit to replace the 112. The release request
was denied due to the small active area, which approximates 3 acres that
did not meet the approved reclamation plan. After talking to Mr. Bruce
Humphries, Minerals Program Supervisor on 7/5/05, of the County's wishes to
correct the error, it was agreed to ask Kit Carson County to submit a
conversion application from the current 112 to a 110. As stated earlier the
site is in a dry streambed, a small amount of stockpile material was
observed along the North East portion of the permit area. The active mining
area was stable and no major sign of erosion features were noted, that
would not have existed even if mining in the dry stream bed did not take
place. No major noxious weed infestation was observed in the 30 plus acres
of the undisturbed part of the current permit area. Kit Carson County has a
County wide noxious weed control plan that it implements on as need basis.
The permit sign and boundary markers were properly posted.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: MS LYN BROWNFIELD
OPERATOR: KIT CARSON COUNTY
STREET: P(~_RnX1h0
CITY/STATE/ZIP: RIIRI INGTnN, Cnl nRAf)n RORn7-nl /,0
CC:
Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: I' CE
All overburden/ topsoil
T BL
r FS
I' H W
I' HMWMD (CH)
I'
r SE
I' WQCD (CH)
I' OTHER
