III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken <br />during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology. Rick Mills represented the operator. The weather was warm and <br />dry. The most recent rain fell a few days earlier. <br />RECORDS All required records were available. The records checklist is attached. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS <br />Mine i.d. signs were properly displayed. Permit boundary markers were properly <br />displayed at several locations inspected. <br />ROADS <br />Roads throughout the site were in good condition. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE <br />Pond A discharge. The flume was discharging less than 100 gpm of clear water. The <br />flume was in good shape(NPDES permit CO-0027159, outfall 001). <br />Pond H. Discharge was less than 10 gpm. The flume was in good shape (NPDES permit <br />CO-0027159, outfall 009). <br />Pond G. No discharge. <br />Stock ponds. The uppermost stock ponds in Areas 51, 7, 9, 10, and 26 were dry. <br />Embankments and inslopes appeared stable. <br />Permanent Gullies. The rock lined gully in Area 31 was in good condition. <br />Overburden Stockpile Spoil Spring #1. Field parameters were: <br />Plow less than 20 gpm <br />pH 6.8 <br />Ec 3,000 mmhos/cm <br />11° C. <br />Monitoring data. Hydrologic monitoring data was checked against the monitoring <br />requirements set forth in Exhibit 8 of the permit application. Monitoring was up-to- <br />date. The operator is commended for having the data well organized and easily <br />accessible. <br />REVEGETATION <br />No weed problems were found in the large areas inspected. Cover appeared good <br />throughout the site. A two-person crew was sampling vegetation for the upcoming bond <br />release application. <br />Page 3 <br />
