(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ti+-t985-nd~
INSPECTION DATE: 5-3:Dd INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: .~-
OBSERVATIONS
Completed a pghial inspection of this operation to review the condition of the sedimentation retention system.
Mr. Rob Mangone and Mr. Mike Kessler participated in the Inspection.
There are suppose to be 3 retention ponds adequately sized to contain runoff from the 2 year 24 hour
precipitation event. Expected runoff from the designed event is anticipated to be 3.0 acre-feet. As designed
and constructed, pond number one, which is located at the southern boundary of the permit, should contain
more than 2.26 acre-feet of runoff. Pond number two, just north of pond one (at the foe of the hlghwall), is
expected to contain more than 3.02 acre-feet of runoff. And, ponds three through eight, which are located
northwest (upgradient) of pond number two, are expected fo contain more than 4.0 ac-e-feet of runoff. Total
capacity of all four ponds is calculated to be 9.00 + acre-feet of runoff (much more than the expected runoff
from the 10 year 24 hour precipitation event of 5.6 acre-feet).
The size of pond number one has not changed. The operator may need to clean it out so the capacity remains
at 2.26 acre-feet. Pond number two has a capacity of approximately 3.0 acre-feet since the size of the facility is
nearly the same as it was last year.
Ponds three through eight are small to moderately sized but still capable of containing most all of the high
elevation runoff during a 70-year 24-hour event. In addition, gs approved in the permit, the operator continues
to back slope the benches to create swales which will collect a substantial amount of runoff.
Note that Red Creek is flowing through the permit area at this time.
No problems observed.
I & E Contact Address Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: r CE
NAME: Mr. Robert Stack t BL Dan Grenard
Mark Davis I' FS BLM
OPERATOR: Red Canyon.
