INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-77-215
DATE: August 13, 1986
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. The mine is currently not active and there was very little activity at
the time of the inspection.
2. The trash barrels noted over the hillside in the Windy Gulch area have
been removed. Several barrels were noted over the hillside on the
southern end of the yard area. In addition, the material piled in this
area appeared to be close to the edge. See Recommendation 1.
3. The October 17, 1985 inspection and subsequent response of November 27,
1985 indicated that a trash rack would be installed at the upper culvert
inlet "when weather conditions permit, but certainly in advance of
spring runoff". No such trash rack has been installed. See
Reconmendation 2.
4. A number of barrels and spillage from these barrels or machinery was
observed just above and very close to the upper culvert inlet. The
Division is concerned with spillage getting into the surface water
system. See Recommendation 3.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. All barrels over the edge should be pulled back by Se tember 19, 1986.
It is recommendation that this southeastern storage area be moved ack
from the edge of the fill and cleaned up.
2. A trash rack must be installed at the upper culvert inlet by
September 19, 1986.
3. The barrels placed adjacent to the upper culvert inlet should be moved
by September 19, 1986. No machinery should be serviced or parked in
this area.
/tmb
3357E
