General Comments
This was a complete inspection of facilities and records at the mine and
loadout. The mine is still under temporary cessation.
No violations were observed. Drainage control was in place and functional at
both the mine and loadout. The sediment pond at the mine was discharging at
the time of the inspection. The water was clear. The operator has submitted
a plan for enlarging the existing mine sediment pond. Pond expansion is
scheduled to be completed during October. Interim revegetation on the mine
refuse site was largely unsuccessful. Barley grain introduced in the mulch
resulted in a stand of barley which suppressed the seeded perennials.
Chemical and/or mechanical treatment followed by reseeding will probably be
necessary to establish perennial vegetation. Reseeding will not be required
this fall, since the barley cover will provide sufficient soil stabilization.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
