(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1981-014
INSPECTION DATE: 7-7-05
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The Rozman Pit is a 112c permitted site located between Almont and Crested Butte,
Colorado off Highway 135. Mr. Ed Stewart, representative for the permitee accompanied the inspectors on site.
Currently Phase la and Ib aze disturbed.
The appropriate sign was noted posted on the gate at the access to the mine site. The area covered by the permit
covers 205 acres. Pemut boundaries consist offence lines and markers that aze visible upon close inspection. It
might be to the operator's advantage to mark the current phase area with markers closer together to prevent intrusion
into other phases. Specifically markers should be placed along the southern edge of Phase la. The additional
markings may keep additional reclamation liabilities to a minimum.
No erosion or sedimentation issues are noted at this time. The Slate River transects the permit area and under the
approved permit the operator must minimize impacts to the river corridor. Evidence indicates that stormwater is
being retained within the disturbed areas and not released into the river.
No fuel or oil storage issues were observed. Fueling of equipment at this site is done by mobile equipment. No spill
or leak problems were noted.
There currently is no reclamation under way on site. It may be in the operator's best interest to look at some areas in
2b and assess if some reclamation can begin. Reclamation of some slopes along the highway would be a visual plus
and keep reclamation costs down overall.
No noxious weeds were noted within the permit boundaries. The operator appears to be doing a good job of
monitoring as it is noted that thistle and whitetop were observed in the immediate area.
Mr. Edwards asked about removing one area from mining at the landowner's request. Phase 5 maybecome part of a
conservation easement. There currently is no disturbance in the area. The operator can request a partial release of
this area by following the requirements of Rule 4.17.
The bond is due for a periodical review. The inspector did not observe any conditions that warrant extra attention.
Therefore, the update will use accepted bond tasks from 2002 and merely update those calculations.
No issues or problems noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Ed Stewart ^ BL
OPERATOR: Valco Gunnison Concrete ^ FS
STREET: P.O.
