(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1983-037
INSPECTION DATE 11/09/04
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
This was an inspection of the Wyman Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the Division of
Minerals and Geology. Lou Wyman was present during the inspection. A 110 permit was
issued on May 31, 1983 for an affected area of 9 acres. The postmining land use is
rangeland.
The site is located adjacent to and north of an access road for oil drilling sites on a
westerly facing hillside approximately 300 feet east of County Road 67. Amine
identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site. Permit boundary markers could
not be located. Rule 3.1.12(2) requires boundary markers to be posted on site to
delineate the permit boundary area. The operator will need to post the markers and submit
photographs to demonstrate compliance on or before May 1, 2005. See page 3 for further
information.
The pit area and associated stockpiles is approximately 3 acres in size. Mining began in
the southeast portion of the site and is proceeding in a northeasterly direction. The pit
has a highwall approximately 15 feet high. A large topsoil pile was located behind the
highwall. The topsoil will need to be moved before the pit can move any further to the
northeast. Some topsoil has been placed and spread south of the access road. It appears
that this material is used to level some of the adjacent land owned by the operator. The
operator should be reminded that all stockpiles, including topsoil, must be located inside
the permit boundary area.
Routt County crushed and screened 5,000 tons of material in July of 2004. The crushed
gravel is used by Routt County for use on roads. Material is stockpiled inside the pit
and will be used throughout the year.
2 & 8 Contact Address
NAME
Mr. Louis Wyman
~ CE
~ BL
~ FS
~ HW
~ HMWMD (CH)
~ SE
~ WQCD (CH)
OPERATOR
STREET
P.O.
