.~
III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. This site is entirely reclaimed, with a total reclaimed area
of about seven acres. Ground conditions were dry. The weather was breezy and mild.
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond appeared in good condition and was slightly muddy in the bottom.
Engleville Gulch was not flowing. The area has received significant precipitation
since the April inspection.
Revegetation
The growing season is well underway at this site. Vegetation is growing
vigorously. Diversity appears excellent. Cool season grasses have set seed heads
but warm season grasses have not. Thistle was noted sporadically around the site.
Most of the thistle plants have developed a seed head but not yet flowered. They
were removed mechanically as encountered. No evidence of planned grazing this
spring was observed. Cattle were not noted on the reclaimed area or in the
surrounding area.
Based on the current condition of the vegetation and the reclamation in general,
the Division suggests the operator consider conducting a Phase II bond release.
Grazing should be postponed until vegetation sampling is complete.
Overall the site appeared in excellent condition.
3
