(Page 3)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-215
INSPECTION DATE 8-13-93 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ACS
be broken up and buried beneath a minimum of 2 feet of earth materials. The cut elope at the
west edge of the mill area should be back-filled and revegetated.
Flow in windy gulch is currently routed through a culvert at the toe of the waste dump. The
operator proposes to construct a channel at the toe of the dump which will accept windy gulch
flow if and when the culvert becomes plugged. This scheme ie acceptable to the Division with
the condition that the operator submit a design for the constructed channel that demonstrates
that it will pass the PMP event, and will not erode the toe of the dump. The operator must
also demonstrate, through acid-base accounting or similar analysis, that the mine waste will
not degrade windy gulch waters flowing through the constructed channel. Homestake has
notified the Division that this information is being prepared for submittal.
Both the 9360 and 9700 level portals have been back-filled. The portal closures are
acceptable for final reclamation. Trees planted at the 9700 level are doing remarkably well
with a very good survival percentage. The poet-mining fate for the road leading to the 9700
level was discussed. Apparently, the road will not be reclaimed ae it serves to access
private land up windy gulch. The operator should submit a summary of roads within the permit
area that will not be reclaimed, and document the non-mining use of roads that are proposed
to remain in place.
I & E Contact Addreea
NAME
cc: Jim Stevens, DMG
STREET 650 California Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP San Francisco, CA 94108
