i
• fPage 21
MINE ID rX OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2000-116
INSPECTION DATE 11-22-2000
OBSERVATIONS
C~
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
This was apre-operational inspection of the site of the proposed Villa Grove Pit.
The site does not have any areas that appear to have been previously disturbed by excavation activities. The site slopes
toward the southeast at a very gentle (nearly flat) slope.
Vegetation on site appears to be as described in the vegetation exhibit of the permit application, dominated by rabbitbrush,
prickly pear, and blue grams.
Cottontail rabbits were observed at the site.
There are barbwire fences along the south and west sides of the proposed site. both fences appear to be in good condition.
The application notice sign was posted at the site as required.
There are no surface water features to speak of across this site and no erosional features were noted.
No "test pits" were observed at the site though mentioned in the permit application. For future reference, the operator
should be aware that all construction material exploration consisting of excavation activities like test pits requires an
exploration or prospecting permit (Notice of Intent) prior to conducting the activity.
No permanent manmade structures, other than survey monuments were noted at the site. The survey monuments were
located at the perimeter of the site. The operator is cautioned to avoid disturbing these monuments. This should not pose
a problem since the monuments are located along the boundary outside the buffer areas and along the fences.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division's Durango Field Office. The address
is; Division of Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, phone no. 970-247-5062.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Tim Scanlon
OPERATOR J and K Limestone Products.
