Since our February meeting, Rio
Grande has been reevaluating its S-4 Pit operations in order to formulate appropriate
revisions to the current mining and reclamation. However, additional work remains to be
done. In particulaz, the company will have the remaining mining stages drilled in mid-
April, 2001, to determine the extent of its recoverable sand reserves and how best to mine
and reclaim them.
Therefore, on behalf of Rio Grande Co., I wish to request a 60-day extension of
time in order to complete the ongoing evaluation of the S-4 Pit and to submit the
appropriate revisions to the Mining and Reclamation Plan. The company proposes to
submit these revisions to the DMG no later than May 31, 2001.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions regarding this letter.
Sincerely,
,,;. nir,~Jr,~• a~",~„r ~ Michael J.
