A site inspection was made of the Shippes Pit as part of the Division's 4-year inspection <br />program. Joe Intermill, representing CDOT, was present during the inspection. <br />2. The Shippes Pit is permitted for a total of 9.4 acres. No financial warranty is required <br />of the Colorado Department of Transportation. The post-mining land use is agricultural <br />grazing land (rangeland). <br />3. The site is currently active with intermittant activity. Disturbances noted consist of <br />1 acre of pit excavation and 3 acres of surrounding stockpile and processing area. The pit <br />excavation contained pit walls in various stages of reclamation. Pit slopes ranged from 1:1 <br />to 3:1. The reclamation plan requires that all affected lands be regraded to a slope of no <br />steeper than 2:1. The remaining disturbed land contained stockpiles of topsoil, overburden <br />and pit run material. No noxious or problem weeds were noted. <br />4. The operator has posted an entrance sign and marked the permit boundary as required by <br />Rule 3.1.12. <br />5.
